Orange Liechtenstein has launched the first commercial 4G LTE mobile service in the tiny Principality, offering an initial 91% population coverage. The cellco is offering 4G data speeds to all existing and new customers in the country at no additional costs and regardless of their contract or pre-pay plan. LTE mobile internet speeds of up to 100Mbps (theoretical maximum) will be increased in phase to 150Mbps, a press release adds, enabling the use of applications such as mobile HD videoconferencing, mobile HD TV, various mobile cloud computing functions, online gaming and more. Post- or pre-paid Orange users can access LTE on a range of smartphones and tablets, with new customers being offered Orange 4G services with the ‘Orange Me’ subscription for CHF15 (USD16.08) per month or with ‘Orange Me PrePay’ costing CHF1 per day. ‘Orange 4G duo packs’ also offer subsidised iPhone 5 and iPad mini devices for use on the LTE network. From mid-October 2013 Orange 4G will also be available for all subscribers of Telecom Liechtenstein, which operates as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) over the Orange network.
