Bouygues Telecom reports 15% drop in revenues

28 Aug 2013

French conglomerate Bouygues Group has announced its financial results for the first half of 2013, reporting that revenue generated by its telecommunications arm Bouygues Telecom amounted to EUR2.29 billion in 1H13, a 15% decrease on the EUR2.68 billion reported in the previous year. The company attributed the drop in sales to a modest commercial performance and the growing influence of SIM-only sales. In the period under review, Bouygues’ EBITDA also declined by 16% to EUR469 million from EUR559 million reported in 1H12.

In operational terms, Bouygues Telecom reported a total of 11.29 million mobile customers at 30 June 2013, while its no-contract, low-cost offer ‘B&You’ gained 523,000 new users to reach a total customer base of 1.60 million. Subscribers to Bouygues’ fixed broadband offerings also increased by 55,000 users in the first half of 2013, reaching a total of 1.90 million by end-June 2013.
