Com Hem launching 500Mbps/50Mbps broadband, beta testing TiVo service

22 Aug 2013

Sweden’s largest cableco Com Hem has announced that it is launching its fastest broadband speeds to date of 500Mbps/50Mbps (download/upload), available to over one million households within its near-1.8 million home HFC network footprint. Com Hem’s product director Asanga Gunatillaka said: ‘No other [Swedish] operator is close to being able to offer such high speeds to over a million households,’ adding that demand existed for the SEK899 (USD138) per month premium internet service from users watching high definition films, playing games and connecting multiple online devices at home. Simultaneously, Com Hem is upgrading the download speed of its previously-fastest package from 200Mbps to 250Mbps. Also this week Com Hem has publicised the beta testing launch of its TiVo-based ‘TV everywhere’ multi-platform product, with the first batch of selected pre-registered users issued with new set-top boxes.
