Cisco upgrades ShenTel’s DWDM network

Regional US operator Shenandoah Telecommunications (Shentel) has tapped Californian vendor Cisco to update its dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) fibre-optic network to support 100Gbps speeds. Advanced transmission speeds are now available in the following locations: Ashburn, Herndon, Leesburg, Harrisonburg, Winchester, Warrenton, Front Royal, Edinburg, Christiansburg, Rustburg, Rocky Mount, Farmville and Wytheville (all Virginia), Charleston, Martinsburg, Weston and Summersville (all West Virginia), and Hagerstown (Maryland).
