Verizon: we will exceed 300,000 FTTH migrations in 2013

15 Aug 2013

Verizon Communications’ CFO Fran Shammo has confirmed that the company’s ongoing copper-to-fibre migration programme continues at pace, and is on track to potentially surpass its initial customer goal for 2013. Fierce Telecom quotes Shammo as saying: ‘Our target was 300,000 this year and we will probably exceed that customer target of customers moving off copper to FiOS (fibre-to-the-home [FTTH])’. During the second quarter, the telco converted 86,000 customers to fibre technology, bringing the total number of copper-to-fibre migrations to 169,000 in 1H13.
