Russia to cooperate with South Ossetia on numbering

Russia’s prime minister Dmitry Medvedev has signed a resolution regarding a potential cooperation agreement between the communications ministries in Russia and the breakaway region of South Ossetia, news agency ITAR-TASS reports. ‘The draft agreement envisages giving South Ossetia numbering resources and a number plan for temporary use before the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) makes a decision to give a separate international code to South Ossetia,’ reads Order of 8 August 2013 No. 1394-r, which has been posted on the Russian government’s website. The implementation of the resolution is aimed at facilitating the development of cooperation between Russia and South Ossetia in the field of communications and information technology.
