Omantel boosts 3.5G, 4G networks in Dhofar

Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) has completed the enhancement of its 3.5G and 4G LTE networks in Dhofar Governorate through the installation of new permanent and temporary base stations. The company said the work will not only improve coverage but also increase the capacity of the networks to handle rising demand from visitors during the Salalah Tourism Festival. ‘During this period of the year, Salalah welcomes tens of thousands of visitors from the Sultanate and neighboring countries. We are committed to ensure that our customers along with in-roaming customers enjoy the best experience during their visit,’ commented Haitham Abdullah Al Kharusi, vice president of Omantel’s Consumer Business unit, adding: ‘This year, our teams have completed the programme to enhance the coverage of our 3.5G network as well as building new 4G LTE sites in new areas in the governorate to accommodate for demand for broadband services.’
