Jio, RCOM to sign third infrastructure deal

12 Aug 2013

4G start-up Reliance Jio Infocomm is expected to sign a third infrastructure sharing deal with Reliance Communications (RCOM), the Economic Times writes, citing a person familiar with the matter. The rumoured deal, said to be worth INR30 billion-INR35 billion (USD495.2 million-USD577.7 million), will allow Jio to utilise RCOM’s intra-city fibre-optic networks, thereby reducing the cost of its ongoing deployment of Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks across India. The agreement would be the third signed between the two companies this year, following deals to share towers and inter-city fibre networks.
