Sales drop but profits rise at CenturyLink

9 Aug 2013

CenturyLink has reported a 1.9% fall in revenues for its second quarter to end-June 2013 to USD4.53 billion. Chief Financial Officer Stewart Ewing said the decline was ‘primarily a result of growth in strategic revenues that was more than offset by lower legacy revenues due to access line losses and lower minutes of use’. Reported net income jumped 263.5% to USD269 million, although excluding one-off items the increase would have been 14.2%. The number of broadband internet customers rose from 5.77 million in June 2012 to 5.91 million twelve months later.
