Vodafone enhances regional coverage with new network sites

Vodafone Hutchison Australia (VHA) has announced that it has expanded its network coverage in regional Australia by 40% following the activation of more than 1,200 new network sites. Outlining the development, VHA noted that the new sites will enhance the cellco’s network footprint in parts of: North Queensland, South West Queensland, the NSW North Coast hinterland, the NSW Central West, South East, South West, Central and Western Victoria, South-eastern South Australia, Kalgoorlie and the Great Eastern Highway in Western Australia, the Western Australian South West and Coral Coast. Meanwhile, VHA technology chief Benoit Hanssen said of the network expansion: ‘Vodafone has added half a million square kilometres to its mobile coverage areas in regional Australia, with more than 1,200 new regional network sites … Our new coverage runs along major highway systems and into towns and places that haven’t previously had coverage. ‘
