Green Packet reports revenue, EBITDA gains in 2Q13

Malaysia’s Green Packet, which owns WiMAX operator Packet One (P1), has announced its financial results for the three months ended 30 June 2013, revealing that EBITDA had more than doubled against the corresponding period a year earlier. In the second quarter of the year Green Packet generated revenues of MYR151 million (USD49 million), representing a 9% year-on-year increase, with P1 accounting for MYR73.8 million of that; Greenpacket Solutions, which provides connectivity device and solutions to operators globally, contributed MY35.2 million. Regarding the financial performance, Green Packet managing director C.C. Puan noted: ‘We revised our strategies for better performance all-around in view of challenging market conditions, and it is proving effective in getting us on track for 2013.’

In operational terms, meanwhile, at the end of June 2013 P1 had a total broadband subscriber base of 454,700, up from 410,000 a year earlier, while voice subscribers numbered 98,400, an increase of more than 71% from the 57,500 recorded at end-June 2012. The number of base stations in operation at the end of the reporting period stood at 1,902, up from 1,678 at the end of 2Q12.
