Swedish-backed cellco Ucell has announced the launch of Dual Carrier (DC) HSPA+ in Tashkent and Samarkand, local news portal gazeta.uz writes. The new technology, which provides theoretical maximum download speeds of 42Mbps was deployed to 42 locations in the capital and seven in Samarkand, although Umida Ziyamova, a spokesperson for the operator added that the cellco will roll out the platform to all regional centres. Ziyamova also noted that Ucell is expanding the footprint and capacity of its 3G network to meet rising demand for mobile internet services, and that the cellco has increased the number of 3G-enabled base stations by 12% since the start of the year.
