UPC Ireland reports strong rise in subs in Q2

Irish cable TV, broadband and voice telephony provider UPC Ireland has reported its financial results for the three months ending 30 June 2013, showing a strong rise in subscribers for its telecoms services, but a small fall in TV subscriptions. The cableco, part of US-based Liberty Global Inc (LGI), closed out the period under review with a total of 1.022 million revenue generating units (RGUs), up slightly from 1.013 million a year earlier. Of the total, 321,300 people were signed up to its broadband service, compared to 315,700 at end-June 2012, 265,900 were using its voice telephony service (254,700) and 377,400 were subscribed to its digital TV packages, down from 382,300 twleve months before.
