Cambodian mobile operator Smart, which was created earlier this year from the merger of Latelz Company (Smart Mobile) and Hello, has announced that the network integration process has been completed. As noted in TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Malaysia’s Axiata Group reached an agreement in December 2012 to merge its Cambodian unit Hello with larger rival Latelz Company (Smart Mobile), a subsidiary of Cyprus-based Timeturn Holdings. The USD155 million deal was completed two months later after receiving approval from the local antitrust authorities. Axiata holds a majority stake in the combined entity, which is legally known as Latelz Company and operates under the refreshed ‘Smart’ brand, with a primary focus on the youth and data user segments, as well as a growing focus on the corporate sector.
