2 Aug 2013

Online news portal InterAksyon.com says that Filipino telecoms giant Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) plans to expand its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) broadband service to 700 residential sub-divisions across the country by the end of 2013. The site quotes PLDT executive vice president and head of PLDT Home division, Ariel Fermin, as saying that the company aims to cover 100 more villages by the year-end. PLDT’s Fibr-branded FTTH service is already available in at least 600 sub-divisions in key cities nationwide, including Forbes Park, Dasmarinas Village, Ayala Alabang, Greenhills, Valle Verde, White Plains and Greenmeadows in Metro Manila; Cebu Royale Estate and Beverly Hills in Cebu; and Don Lorenzo in Davao. The executive says that PLDT is looking to double its Fibr subscriber base to 30,000 by end-2013, up from the current figure of 15,000.
