Slovenia’s foreign minister Karl Erjavec on Monday invited Russian investors to participate in his country’s privatisation plans, including the sell-off of the government’s controlling stake in incumbent telco Telekom Slovenije. As quoted by Balkans.com, Erjave said, ‘We would like Russian investors to participate in this privatisation,’ following a meeting with visiting Russian Minister of Communications & Mass Media Nikolai Nikiforov. Last month TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate reported that the government’s plan to privatise Telekom Slovenije was approved by Parliament as part of a package of privatisations covering 15 state enterprises. TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database says that the Republic of Slovenia directly owns a 62.54% stake in Telekom Slovenije, while another 9.84% is held by state investment funds.
