Rogers’ wireless, cable revenues grow 3% each

Canadian quadruple-play operator Rogers Communications has reported consolidated revenue growth of 3% year-on-year to CAD3.2 billion (USD3.11 billion) in the second quarter of 2013, underpinned by 3% growth at each of its Wireless and Cable divisions, reaching total sales of CAD1.813 billion and CAD870 million respectively. In highlights from the quarter, wireless data revenue grew by 18% and now comprises 46% of total wireless network revenue. Rogers activated and upgraded 678,000 smartphones during the three months ended 30 June 2013, of which approximately 37% were for subscribers new to the Wireless division. Customers with smartphones now represent 72% of Rogers’ overall post-paid mobile subscribers.
