Vivo picks Ceragon to provide backhaul for its nationwide LTE rollout

24 Jul 2013

Vivo Participacoes, a subsidiary of Spain’s Telefonica, has selected wireless backhaul specialist Ceragon Networks as its preferred wireless backhaul partner as it looks to implement the next phase of its nationwide Long Term Evolution (LTE) network. In a USD6 million deal, Ceragon will supply Brazil’s leading cellco by subscribers with a range of short haul solutions based on its ‘FibeAir’ branded products, as well as ancillary turnkey services, to help boost Vivo’s network capacity as it expands and upgrades its 4G network. ‘After years of working with Ceragon’s solutions, we are convinced that Ceragon has the expertise, reach and technological vision to meet Vivo’s target to achieve full LTE coverage before the World Cup in 2014,’ said Vivo network director Leonardo Capdeville.
