O2 Slovakia continues to gain from MNP

23 Jul 2013

By the end of June 2013 Telefonica Slovakia (O2) reports that a total of 571,091 mobile phone numbers had been ported to its network since the launch of mobile number portability (MNP) in 2008, whilst a total of 55,060 users had ported an O2 number to a rival network. In January-June 2013 67,226 numbers were ported from competitors’ networks to the O2 network (41,633 from Orange and 25,593 from Slovak Telekom); this followed incoming porting totals of 118,000 in full-year 2012 and 141,000 in FY11, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database. In the first six months of 2013 O2 maintained its net porting balance as 22,417 numbers were ported to the competition (giving a positive net gain of 32,643 in the six-month period), although this rate of churn showed an increase from previous periods.
