Mobile operator Vodacom Tanzania is selling 1,149 of its communication towers to Helios Towers Tanzania for an estimated USD75 million – although the cellco will retain a 25% in Helios under the deal. The agreement means that the tower company now owns a portfolio of 4,700 towers in the region, including the assets it bought from Millicom Tanzania (Tigo) under a similar deal, as well as those it owns in Ghana and DRC.
