22 Jul 2013

Reliance Jio Infocomm has begun installing fibre-optic cabling in the Assam and North East circles in preparation for a full 4G rollout, the Economic Times reports. The first phase of the deployment will see Jio invest INR6 billion to INR7 billion (USD100.7 million to USD117.5 million), although spending will be subsequently scaled up. Around 800 4G-enabled towers will be installed in Assam by the end of the year, with services expected to be launched by April next year.
