One of the two new Myanmar wireless licensees, Telenor, has said that it expects to launch commercial services in the second quarter of next year, with SIM cards available at just MMK1,500 (USD1.50) and local calling rates set at MMK25 per minute, which is half the fee currently charged by state-owned Myanmar Post and Telecommunication. The Norwegian company has said it will roll out an HSPA and Long Term Evolution (LTE)-enabled wireless network, reaching nationwide coverage within five years.
