Korek Telecom has announced that it has signed a contract with Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) which will see the Finnish telecoms vendor improve the cellco’s coverage in southern Iraq, while readying the network for the planned introduction of 3G technology. Under the contract, NSN will deploy its Single RAN platform, which will support Korek’s existing 2G network, as well as future-proofing the infrastructure for the introduction of 3G and 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology.
