Xinwei Cambodia, a subsidiary of Beijing-based network infrastructure provider Xinwei Telecom, plans to launch mobile operations next month under the brand CooTel, The Cambodia Daily quotes Lay Marivo, deputy director of the Telecom Regulator of Cambodia, as saying. The company was awarded a full-service unified telecoms operator licence (allowing fixed and mobile services) by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications Cambodia (MPTC) in August 2011. Xinwei’s multi-carrier wireless in the local loop (McWiLL) network is being rolled out by Huawei, under a contract signed between the two companies in February this year, and the infrastructure will eventually cover 90% of the population.
