ITC and Huawei in partnership to upgrade core network

18 Jul 2013

Saudi Arabian broadband service provider Integrated Telecom Company (ITC) has entered into an agreement with Chinese telecommunications vendor Huawei to upgrade and expand the capacity of its IP core network data infrastructure for IP/MPLS services. According to a press release, the upgrade will provide ITC’s subscribers with modern and high quality telecoms services and enable ITC to build cloud computing applications.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, at end-March 2013 ITC had signed up a total of 11,000 WiMAX subscribers, corresponding to 0.4% of the domestic retail broadband market, although this is only one aspect of ITC’s wholesale/retail service range. The company operates an independent 17,000km national fibre network, in addition to seven international gateways connecting the Kingdom to the rest of the world.
