Hong Kong group PCCW’s core telecoms division HKT has launched HKT Enterprise Cloud, a carrier-grade cloud service for enterprise customers in Hong Kong, also offering cross-border services tailored to customers with a presence in Hong Kong and mainland China. The service provides a ‘resource pool’ that enables customers to manage virtual infrastructure, based on HKT’s network infrastructure and facilities management combined with service partner HP’s cloud infrastructure and professional services.
HKT provides a private data network enabling co-located customers to connect their own servers directly to HKT Enterprise Cloud, resulting in low-latency and stable connectivity. HKT also offers fibre broadband internet, mobile 3G/4G services and Wi-Fi network connections up to 802.11ac standard to allow customers to connect to HKT Enterprise Cloud anytime, using any of the options. The cloud services leverage the expertise of HP, ‘the world’s largest provider of information technology infrastructure, software, services and solutions to individuals and organisations.’ The cloud infrastructure is supported by DDoS protection, hardware and software layer security control, two-factor authentication and the ISO 27001 information security management system (ISMS) standard to ensure all-round data protection.
Tom Chan, HKT’s Commercial Group managing director, said: ‘In Hong Kong, many CIOs now have a strong demand for cloud manageability, scalability and flexibility. They also need an advanced architecture and a high standard of security to meet stringent company and industry compliance requirements. With HKT Enterprise Cloud, CIOs can easily allocate from a resource pool to meet different user needs in a controlled and secure environment to comply with their data policies.’
HKT Enterprise Cloud adds to HKT’s existing cloud service range, including its HKT Cloud Office for small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs).
