Omantel offers free Wi-Fi in Muscat parks

15 Jul 2013

Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel), the Sultanate’s incumbent telecoms operator, has made free Wi-Fi available in a number of Muscat parks in cooperation with Muscat Municipality. At present, the service is available in Naseem Garden, Al Amerat Park, Qurm National Park and Wadi Kabir Public Park, but will be expanded to more locations in the near future, reports the Muscat Daily. ‘Omantel has partnered with Muscat Municipality to implement this initiative,’ a company spokesperson said, adding: ‘This is part of our efforts to support broadband penetration among the public. The Wi-Fi service from Omantel provides free and easy on-the-go web access for public in certain designated areas that were agreed with the Muscat Municipality.’
