11 Jul 2013

The UK operator BT has announced plans to double the peak speeds of its fastest broadband internet plans by the end of this year, offering customers peak download speeds of 300Mbps and uplinks at 20Mbps. The new package in its Infinity broadband range will be launched in 50 markets where its fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) infrastructure has been deployed. The new 300Mbps offering provides unlimited bandwidth and will cost GBP50 (USD74.50) per month, GBP15 more than the current 150Mbps top-rate service. As part of its service upgrade, BT is also introducing an enhanced home router, the BT Home Hub 5, which incorporates new Gigabit Ethernet ports and an integrated VDSL modem, Tech Radar reports.
