Saudi Telecom expands networks

Saudi Arabia’s largest telco in terms of subscribers Saudi Telecom Company (STC) has completed the expansion of its networks by adding more than 3,224 fixed and mobile base stations to support HSPA+ and 4G Long term Evolution (LTE) services in order to cater to the influx of visitors in Mecca and Medina. In a press release posted on the company’s website, the STC noted that the capacity of its 3G and 4G networks have been increased by 40%, thus allowing 27,000 subscribers to surf the net simultaneously with maximum download speeds of 42Mbps.
