Ambitel pays USD500,00 to Sierra Leone's NATCOM

Ambitel (GreenN), a subsidiary of LAP Green Network, itself wholly owned by Libyan investment vehicle Libyan Africa Portfolio (LAP), has announced the payment of USD500,000 to Sierra Leone’s telecoms regulator National Telecommunications Commission (NATCOM) in lieu of outstanding licence fees, All Africa reports. According to the article, Ambitel’s CEO John Weir has said that adequate plans are currently in progress to ensure that all other relevant balance payments are made as soon as possible. The executive also announced that the company has invested nearly USD18 million in infrastructure in Sierra Leone, with aims to invest further USD30 million in the next three years. The company reportedly owes a total of USD1.55 million to the NATCOM in licence fees and sanctions for failing to launch its operations for two years.
