Australian telecoms provider CBO Telecommunications has reportedly completed the AUD3.25 million (USD2.94 million) rollout of ‘SIG Connect Network’, a metro area network (MAN) that will be used by the government of the Solomon Islands. Online news portal ARNnet.com writes that in late-2010, the Islands’ Ministry of Finance submitted a request for government support to build the secure private government network, connecting 85 locations across Honiara. Brisbane-based CBO won the subsequent contract for the construction work in November 2012, which included the design, installation, management and support of the network followed by a three-year maintenance and support agreement. To complete the deployment of SIG Connect Network, CBO worked with local Solomon Islands partner, Satellite Solutions as well as a number of equipment manufacturers such as Cambium Networks, Opengear and APC.
