PLDT selects TeliaSonera International Carrier’s IP connectivity to extend global reach

4 Jul 2013

Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT), the largest telecoms group in the Philippines by revenue and subscribers, has signed a global IP transit service agreement with TeliaSonera International Carrier (TSIC) to extend the former’s reach and deliver a high-quality connection throughout North America, Asia and Europe. PLDT offers a diversified range of telecommunications services throughout the Philippines, including the operation of a significant outsourcing business. It hopes that by leveraging direct connections to multiple TSIC 10Gbps ports across three continents, it will secure the IP transit connectivity needed to support the seamless delivery of its services around the globe. Further, PLDT says that access to TSIC’s global footprint will allow it to extend its service portfolio to previously untapped markets.
