T-Mobile rolls out HD voice services in Hungary

2 Jul 2013

Hungarian telecoms operator Magyar Telekom (MTel), through its cellular arm T-Mobile, has deployed HD quality mobile voice calls services on a nationwide basis, giving its customers improved voice quality – free of charge. In a press release, MTel says that HD voice services can be used automatically on the cellco’s 3G and 4G networks, for users with an appropriate HD-ready mobile phone – such as the iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S4, S3, Nokia Lumia 820 and 920. The launch follows a successful trial of HD voice in the capital Budapest, with technical support provided by Ericsson. Commenting on the launch, the group’s chief commercial officer for residential services, Attila Keszeg, said: ‘Owing to the new HD voice the quality of telephone conversations has been further improved. The result is a richer, clearer and crisper sound and [T-Mobile] customers may now – and in the future – enjoy this feature free of charge. Our innovative ‘HD Sound’ service is another step in our series of customer experience enhancing developments.’
