German mobile network operator E-Plus, a subsidiary of the Netherlands’ KPN Telecom, is set to activate Dual Carrier (DC)-HSPA+ technology in the next month, boosting theoretical maximum download speeds to 42Mbps, teltarif.de reports. At present, around 97% of E-Plus’ 3G network is equipped with HSPA+ technology, which enables maximum download speeds of up to 21Mbps, while the company also plans to launch 4G LTE technology later this year. E-Plus is Germany’s third largest mobile network operator, notes TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, with a total of 21.31 million active wireless customers at the end of 31 March 2013, giving it a market share of 19.4%.
