21 Jun 2013

Kosovar telecoms watchdog the Regulatory Authority for Post and Electronic Communications (ARKEP) has issued fines to IPKO and Kujtesa for unauthorised use of radio frequency resources, Zeri reports. An investigation by ARKEP in October 2012 had found that the two broadband providers were utilising spectrum in the 3.4GHz-3.6GHz and 3.6GHz-3.7GHz bands, spectrum ranges used by telcos in Kosovo for point-to-point (PTP) and point-to-multipoint (PMP) services, without authorisation. IPKO has been fined EUR97,500 (USD129,051), whilst Kujtesa was handed a penalty of EUR45,000.
