Argentinian broadband connections total 13.53m in Q1

According to the latest report from statistics bureau Indec, Argentina ended March 2013 with a total of 13.533 million fixed and mobile broadband subscribers, up from 10.66 million twelve months earlier. Residential customers accounted for 11.507 million of total connections in Q1 2013, with corporations and organisations making up the remaining 2.025 million. The combined residential and business total comprised 3.489 million xDSL connections and 952,653 cable modem accesses, while wireless, satellite and other connections accounted for the remaining 9.09 million.

In other news, Trex has launched an underground fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network in Villa La Angostura in Neuquen province, reports NexTV Latam. The company is also offering IPTV with middleware from BeeSmart and set-top boxes from Swiss company Albis, with the support of Argentine integrator Axor.
