Vodafone NZ switches on LTE in Queenstown; 4G user count reaches 120,000

20 Jun 2013

Vodafone New Zealand has confirmed that its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network is now live in Queenstown – the third location in New Zealand to receive access to the new technology. Russell Stanners, CEO of Vodafone New Zealand, commented: ‘4G has captured customers’ imaginations, with well over 120,000 4G-capable devices now active on our 4G network. And with 4G available to 55% of the Queenstown population by July, there’s even more opportunity for Kiwis to experience the speed of 4G’.

TeleGeography notes that Vodafone’s increased LTE user total has doubled in less than a month; prior to the 29 May launch in Christchurch Stanners stated that the company had notched up 60,000 LTE device subscribers.
