MNP test phase by mid-January 2014, BTRC orders

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) yesterday issued a directive setting a timetable for introducing mobile number portability (MNP). The regulator has given all cellular operators three months to form a MNP consortium to operate systems including a shared MNP database, which itself must be established within six months, while a test phase of MNP must be launched a month after the database is launched (by mid-January 2014).
