Vodacom Tanzania aims for 100% SIM registration by end-June

13 Jun 2013

Mobile network operator Vodacom Tanzania is aiming to make certain that all its users have registered their SIM cards in line with local laws, before the government’s end-June deadline. The cellco has so far reached 95% registration but warned unregistered users that their SIM cards will be disconnected after the deadline for non-compliance. The Daily News cites Vodacom managing director Rene Meza as confirming that his company is committed to complying with the rules sets out in the Electronic and Postal Communications Act of 2010 that stipulates mandatory registration of all mobile phone numbers in Tanzania.
