O2 to launch LTE in three more cities next month

Telefonica Germany, which provides fixed and mobile services under the brand O2, has revealed that it will introduce commercial Long Term Evolution (LTE) services in the cities of Hamburg, Duisburg and Essen on 2 July. The company’s urban 4G network is already available in Munich, Berlin, Frankfurt, Cologne, Nuremberg, Leipzig and Dusseldorf. ‘Starting 2 July, Telefonica will have turned all German cities across the metropolitan areas into high speed areas,’ commented Michiel van Eldik, chief marketing officer at Telefonica Deutschland, adding: ‘With the expansion of our LTE network we haven’t reached the end yet. We keep on working hard to offer a comprehensive LTE supply and with our wide range of LTE smartphone devices, market leading O2 Blue All-in tariffs and now with LTE speed on top we offer the most attractive speed bundle available in the market.’
