Nikolai Beckers, the new CEO of Romanian sister companies RomTelecom and Cosmote Romania, has told local business daily Ziarul Financiar that his primary focus is on transforming the pair into a ‘functional, efficient’ group providing an integrated service. While clarifying that an operational merger is still at a preliminary stage, he commented: ‘From my perspective, the economic logic of the merger of the two companies is obvious. We have discussed fixed-mobile convergence services, which [currently] come from two operators. A fluent business without any interruptions is better’.
