Belgacom expects 4G network to cover 35% of the population by end-June

Belgacom has revealed that its now offers LTE technology in more than 100 towns across the country, with the operator saying that it expects the network to cover 35% of the Belgian population by the end of this month. Further, Belgacom – which offers mobile services under the Proximus banner – also noted that with its 3G coverage level now standing at 99%, it saw mobile data traffic double in the first three months of 2013 when compared to the same period a year earlier.

As previously reported by CommsUpdate, Belgacom inaugurated commercial LTE services in November 2012, with its network initially available in the following locations: Hasselt, Antwerp, Ghent, Leuven, Liege, Namur, Mons, Waver and the Haasrode Industrial Park.
