UL regime to be finalised within the next month

The government hopes to finalise the framework for its unified licensing (UL) regime within the next month, the Business Standard writes, citing Department of Telecommunications (DoT) official M F Farooqui. Under the unified licence structure, a single UL would be enable providers to offer any telecoms service, although spectrum rights will still be purchased separately. Further, telcos will also be permitted to share spectrum and infrastructure resources.
