Shater Wafik Khalifa, the head of Libya’s LAP Green Network, has revealed that the company intends to demonstrate its support of Ivorian subsidiary GreenN Cote d’Ivoire ahead of a comprehensive relaunch. TMT Finance reports that the Libyan holding company has already channelled XOF10 billion (USD19.9 million) into the cellco this year, going some way to paying off its government debts of XOF15 billion.

According to data from the L’Agence des Telecommunications de Cote d’Ivoire (ATCI), the cellco’s subscriber base slumped from a peak of 814,966 in December 2009 to a low of 234,984 in June 2012, following to political crises in both Libya and Cote d’Ivoire. However, recent quarters have seen the company successfully grow its business once more, claiming 353,588 subscribers by 31 December 2012. GreenN CEO Abdul Ghani Ramadan has subsequently indicated that the company’s user base has reached 450,000.
