Vimpelcom launches LTE network in Moscow

Russian mobile giant Vimpelcom (Beeline) has announced that it has launched commercial Long Term Evolution (LTE) services in central Moscow, and aims to cover almost all districts of the capital with 4G connectivity by the end of 2013. According to the Prime business news agency, the cellco’s vice president Igor Parfyonov has revealed that it has installed 104 LTE base transceiver stations (BTS) in Moscow, all operating within the 800MHz and 2.6GHz spectrum bands.

The news agency adds that Vimpelcom expects to launch commercial LTE services in Kaliningrad, Astrakhan and Altai in 2H13, as well as the Republics of Adygeya, Ingushetia and Kalmykia.
