Orange-France launches LTE in Cannes

15 May 2013

French telecom operator Orange-France has announced the launch of its Long Term Evolution (LTE) service in Cannes, making Grasse the first Arrondissement in the Côte d’Azur region to be covered by the 4G network. The service was rolled out on 13 May, in advance of the Cannes film festival, and is available at several locations, including the town centre, around the Palais des Festivals and the Croisette, nicematin.com reported. According to Orange’s South East region director Patrick Figueres, the coverage will be extended to the rest of the town by end-June 2013. No details have, however, been given about the 4G rollout in the rest of the Côte d’Azur region, though LTE is expected to be deployed in Nice Arrondissement before the end of 2013.
