Sprint blames vendors for slow Network Vision progress

8 May 2013

Sprint Nextel has indicated that ‘poor execution’ by its network vendor partners in the latter part of 2012 was one of the chief factors behind its delayed Long Term Evolution (LTE) rollout and also its ‘Network Vision’ modernisation plan. Citing a 10-Q filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Fierce Wireless quotes the carrier as saying: ‘During the second half of 2012, we experienced delays with vendor execution, backhaul connectivity delays, shortages in equipment such as fibre cable and antennas, as well as other regulatory and environmental issues. However, we expect that we will recover from these delays and we are still forecasting to have the majority of the sites on-air by the end of 2013 with expected completion of Network Vision deployment by the middle of 2014’.
