Telecom Argentina has announced its consolidated financial results for the first quarter of 2013, reporting an 18% increase in revenues to ARS6.064 billion (USD1.2 billion) from ARS5.126 billion in the year-ago period, mainly driven by the firm’s mobile, fixed data and broadband operations. Mobile services accounted for ARS4.448 billion of total revenues in Q1 2013 (up 20% year-on-year), while fixed services generated ARS1.616 billion (an increase of 14%). Operating income before depreciation and amortisation (OIBDA) totalled ARS1.799 billion in the first three months of 2013, up 9% from ARS1.647 billion twelve months earlier, while net income attributable to the company rose 15% from ARS698 million in 1Q12 to ARS802 million in the same period of 2013. Telecom Argentina said capital expenditure for the quarter totalled ARS741 million, of which ARS284 million was allocated for fixed services and ARS457 million for mobile operations. As at 31 March 2013 the number of Telecom Personal’s domestic mobile customers stood at 19.114 million, compared to 18.547 million a year earlier, while Argentine fixed broadband customers increased 4% year-on-year to 1.626 million. Mobile customers of Telecom’s Paraguayan unit Nucleo rose 6% year-on-year to 2.335 million at the end of March 2013.
