Claro reports more than 20,000 4G subscribers in Brazil

Online news portal TeleSemana reports that Telecom Americas (Claro), the Brazilian mobile subsidiary of Mexico’s America Movil, has signed up more than 20,000 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) mobile users since launching its new network last December. The cellco is offering a range of tablets, smartphones and modems to support the launch and says its 4G network is currently live in twelve cities, including those hosting the upcoming football Confederations Cup. The full list of cities covered is: Recife, Campos do Jordao, Buzios, Paraty, Curitiba, Porto Alegre, Salvador, Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro, Fortaleza, Brasilia and Sao Paulo.
