30 Apr 2013

KC, the internet service provider (ISP) unit of Hull-based KCOM Group, has detailed the next locations where it plans to deploy its ‘Lightstream’ branded fibre broadband service. Having last month announced plans to bring the service to the Victoria Dock area of Hull from May 2013, the telco has now revealed that streets around Newland Avenue and Beverley Road will be connected from July 2013. Looking further ahead, the area around Hessle town centre and First Lane in Hessle will gain access to Lightstream products from November 2013, while part of Brough will be connected the following month. Additionally, KC has noted that business locations within the next phase of its fibre rollout include parts of Hull city centre, and a number of industrial estates.

In making the announcement, KC claimed that, in total, it expects its fibre services to become available to around 15,000 new premises during 2013, while also noting that approximately 17,000 homes and businesses are already passed by the network.
